Course Outline

Participants will receive instruction on the proper use and operation of Skyjack SJIII Indoor and/or SJ-Mid Size Rough Terrain self-propelled elevating work platforms. Topics covered include:

  • Who is qualified to operate the aerial work platform
  • Operating safety
  • Mechanical Operation of the Aerial work platform
  • Equipment maintenance

This Online Training Presentation consists of multiple choice questions at the end of each video topic covered above. Participants may review the video as often as needed but may not advance to the next topic until a grade of at least 80% is achieved. Once all topics have been completed with the required grade, notification will immediately be sent to a Larry's Rentall Program Administrator. At this time the participant may contact Larry's Rentall during regular business hours, or wait to be contacted by a Program Administrator to schedule the final practical component. All practical components are carried out at Larry's Rentall Inc. and Operator Cards are issued directly to the participant the day of.

PROPANE RECORD OF TRAINING (PTI 400-01)
Connection & Use of Construction Heaters up to 400,000 BTUH

Course Overview
This course has been designed for individuals who use propane powered construction heaters (up to 400,000 BTUH) and hand-held torches. The certification requirements listed below must be achieved in order to successfully complete the course.

Key Learning Objectives
The student will gain knowledge in the following key areas:
Product Knowledge:
Includes instruction on the properties and characteristics of propane; personal protective equipment required; preventative measures and first aid tips specific to propane; understanding sources of ignition and testing for leaks.
Propane Cylinders:
Students will gain an understanding of the various types and sizes of propane cylinders; receiving and storage of cylinders at the construction site; transporting cylinders around the construction site; regulatory requirements of cylinder use.
Construction Heaters and Equipment:
Includes instructions on the roles and responsibilities of construction heater users and rental companies; types of construction heaters; rules of the safe use of construction heaters; electrical requirements, combustion and ventilation; propane torches; hoses; fittings and regulators.

Regulatory References
This course has been designed to satisfy regulatory requirements of the most current CAN/CSA-B149.1 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code and the CAN/CSA-B149.2 Propane Storage and Handling Code. The Trainer will also ensure that the student is aware of any additional requirements as outlined by the authorities in their jurisdiction. This course satisfies national and provincial regulatory requirements including CH-02 ROT requirements in Ontario.

Certification Requirements
The student must successfully complete both a written and practical hand-on exam provided by a PTI (Propane Training Institute) certified Trainer. A temporary Record of Training will be issued to the student the by PTI certified Trainer valid for ninety days. The Propane Training Institute will issue the student a paper wall certificate and a plastic wallet card certifying successful completion of the course. PTI certification is valid for three years from the date of training.

Course Duration
The course can be completed in four to six hours including classroom instruction, demonstration of correct procedures, written exam and practical hand-on exam. Overall duration of an individual course will vary depending on the number of students in the class and their individual skill level.
